Camphor oil

Camphor resin refining produces a colorless or pale yellow to reddish-brown oily liquid, soluble in ethanol and ether, with a strong camphor odor. It is a substance with high ash content, highly volatile, and prone to drying. When painting new colors, it is used for color application, as it easily disperses oil-based materials, allows smooth brush movement, and dries quickly after painting. It is less commonly used in famille rose painting; occasionally, it is employed to moisten dry brushes, clean solidified residue, or modify and erase unwanted lines. It can also dilute gold solution or luminous glaze for porcelain painting and is mixed with alcohol to form a solution for applying decal transfers. However, it must never be mixed with frankincense oil.
